What is Virtual Web Hosting?
We specialise in Virtual Web Hosting which means that you can find
a home for your web site on our web servers and establish a presence
on the internet. We can help register your own domain
name which will become your unique address on the World Wide
Web. Having your own domain name does not suggest that you are
renting web space, and, since email can be addressed to your
domain (i.e. www.yourname.com ) you will not have to announce a
new email address if you change internet providers.

Do you offer dial-up internet access?
No, you will need local Internet access in order to maintain your web
site and retrieve email addressed to your site. Providing a specialized
service means that we do not have hundreds of modems to maintain
enabling us to devote more time to our customers and to the
addition of enhancements to the entire site.

Do you offer web page design services?
No, we only provide web site hosting. We do however, have
contacts with Web designers using Xhost Services and will be happy
to put you in touch with a designer. Please use the normal contact
form to request this.

How do I upgrade or downgrade from one plan to another?
You can change plan types at anytime by sending your request to
sales@xhost.co.uk.

How long does it take before my domain name is active?
UK domains are normally take between 24-48 hours to activate. For
.com domain names, once InterNIC announces that your domain
name has been registered (or transferred, if applicable), it usually
takes about 24-72 hours before it is active. All internet providers
must update their records (DNS tables) to reflect new site locations.
This is called propagation.

How do I transfer files to my web site ?
Files can be transferred to the server using various programs. If your
program uses FTP or Microsoft FrontPage to transfer files then you
can use it. If you have questions about support for transferring files
with your program, contact support@xhost.co.uk
Note: We do not mix FTP access and Frontpage access on the same
directories.

Will I have unlimited access to update my pages ?
You have unlimited access via FTP and Microsoft® FrontPage® ,using your private id and password, 24-hours a day. As such, you
can create and maintain your web pages on your own computer and
upload files to your web site at your leisure.

Can I use my account for commercial purposes ?
Yes, you can use your account for commercial purposes. The World Wide Web has become a most efficient and cost-effective means of
making information available to the users of the internet community.
If desired, secure processing is available which provides an
environment whereby payment information (such as a credit card
number) can be transmitted from web browser to web server in an
encrypted mode.

Can I resell space within my own account ?
Space should not be resold within your standard account. If you wish to resell space, we have a resellers scheme which provides
discounts to you as a reseller. For more information about our

Do you accept international orders ?
Yes. We are pleased to have customers around the world and we're as close as your computer. If desired, we can host non-UK domain
name extensions. International clients are responsible for registering
their domain with the country in which they reside.

What contract and payment terms are available?
We bill at monthly, or annual increments. We accept MasterCard, Visa, and American Express cards.

Do you offer technical support to customers ?
Yes. We encourage our customers to use the support site or to send
email to support@xhost.co.uk with questions or concerns about their
web site. If we cannot offer a solution to a concern within a
reasonable timeframe, we will invite you to call us or we'll call you
directly. We also have a support site which is accessable using your
domain name and the password you will be sent at sign-up.

How long does it take to set up a new account ?
Orders submitted before 3 p.m. which include appropriate payment information will be processed the same day! Once an account is set
up an activation notice will be sent to you via email with access
information for your site. You can begin uploading files to your new
web site immediately thereafter. Platinum account users will be given a IP address to access their site via the web prior to the completion
of either domain registration or transfer.
