Replying
to Email
A
reply looks like the image below; the original message is quoted, but indented
from the rest of the message. The cursor will be at the beginning of the
area where you can type. The E-mail address of the person who wrote the
original message will already be on the To: line (if they have their real
name in the original message, that's what you'll see). The subject will
be filled in for you as well, based on the original message.
Using
the buttons at the top of the Window, you can change all sorts of things.
- The colours you type with, make the font bold or italic, all of which
is very nice. - Except that unless the person receiving your mail is also
using Outlook, they won't see all that fancy stuff. They'll just see the
normal text of your message.
You
can also attach a file to the mail you're sending, by clicking on
the button that looks like a
paperclip and finding the file you
want to attach.
New
Email
Starting
a new E-mail is easy - from the main Outlook screen, just click on the
button that looks like an envelope with a letter in front of it.
For a new E-mail, you'll have to supply the E-mail address of the recipient
yourself, as well as the subject line.
You
can also set up new folders for storing emails that you want to keep, so
your inbox doesn't become unmanageable. To do this, click on the Personal
Folders line in the folder list to highlight it, click on the File
menu and select New Folder. At all times, when using Microsoft
Outlook, online help is available. just press the F1 key on your keyboard.
