Quick Reference...

Attribute Name
XAxisTicks
Type Integer (0..2)
Summary: Sets the number of ticks on the X axis.

Description:

The XAxisTicks attribute sets the number of ticks on a graph's X axis (or the Y axis of horizontal bar graphs and Gantt charts). This attribute doesn't apply to pie charts or polar graphs.
XAxisTicks is used only when the XAxisStyle attribute is set to 2 (user-defined) and works in combination with the XAxisMin and XAxisMax attributes.
The effect of XAxisTicks depends on whether or not the graph uses the ST_XPosData or DB_XPosData attributes to set independent X values.

Without XPosData

  • If XAxisTicks is less than or equal to the value of the NumPoints property, setting the property has no effect.
  • If XAxisTicks is greater than the value of the NumPoints property, the X axis is extended to the value of XAxisTicks.

This feature helps when you want to create graphs for which you have incomplete data. For example, you might want to label your X axis for 12 months (January through December) when you have data only for five months (January through May). Although the NumPoints property is set to 5, you can set XAxisTicks to 12 and create labels for all 12 points.

With XPosData

If you have XPosData, XAxisTicks specifies the number of ticks from the origin to the setting of either the XAxisMax or XAxisMin attribute - whichever has the higher magnitude (distance from zero). Because both the maximum and minimum points of an axis must fall evenly on a tick, the Graph control will override the lower-magnitude range setting (XAxisMax or XAxisMin) if necessary.

XAxisTicks takes a single integer value, from 1 to 100.

<CFXGRAPHICSSERVER ... XAxisTicks="50" ... >

Sets the number of XAxisTicks to 50, The exact effect depend on the setting of XPosData.
